In the presence of Hilde Vautmans, …

I wish to thank Mrs Hilde Vautmans for the warm welcome.

Here are the points that were discussed with Mrs. Vautmans and her assistant :

2213/5000
– Preventive measures: by informing the public and doctors about the dangers of tick bites! This can be done through the distribution of prevention leaflets, but also by other means. We also asked if it is possible to place prevention signs at the entrance of forests, parks, etc …

– Blood tests: the current tests are not reliable, the goal is to arrive at a reliable test that would be common for all European countries.

– The recognition of the persistent form: we must continue to work on a resolution. We launched the idea of bringing together all the people who had already contributed to the development of a project, together with other politicians from other parties and also representatives of associations of patients with Lyme disease. The goal is to arrive at a resolution and Mrs. Hilde Vautmans has helped us with this project.

– Possible other modes of transmission of the disease: it will deepen the file and, if necessary, request further study.

– The treatment: I presented him with the current problems that doctors are facing for the prescription of long-term antibiotics in patients. We discussed the dangers of possible resistance to antibiotics. I clearly explained to her why long-term treatment is needed, and I pointed out that other conditions also require long-term antibiotics. Long-term antibiotic therapy is not the ideal method because it is a heavy treatment, but it improves the condition of patients while waiting for the discovery of a better alternative. That’s why we advocate for longer-term antibiotic therapy.

– The research: for Mrs Hilde Vautmans, it is clear that it is imperative to release funds to intensify research.

I made them a complete file that I put on a USB key with all the articles, interviews of doctors, teachers, etc … They also received the slides of the President of ILADS and Dr. Cécile Jadin.

She will examine the whole file with her assistants and give me news!
